About the Project

The Cacao Traceability System is a pioneering initiative funded by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) and implemented by the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) in partnership with the Biao Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (BARBCO). Traco is designed to enhance food safety, sustainability, and transparency in the cacao industry by enabling the traceability of cacao production from farm to consumer.

Building on insights from a 2021 study on cacao supply chains in Southern Philippines, Traco focuses on strengthening the industry’s competitiveness while promoting long-term sustainability.
